Paint your own lighthouse tealight holder

For those who love to paint, our paint your own sculpture sets are a unique arts and crafts activity idea.

We have a selection of wall hanging or tealight holder sculpture options, which each begin as a clay sculpture created by Becky Stout. Each paint your own sculpture is cast from Resincrete (a durable, eco friendly, water based ceramic and resin composite).

Wall hanging sculptures come with a picture hook on the back, and tealight holders include a flameless tealight.

You can select just the sculpture, or you can add a paint set, which includes a set of 5 acrylic colours and a paintbrush.

Please note, these sculptures are not intended for resale.

Below are some recommendations from Becky to help you get the best results when painting your own sculpture.

Although you can choose to do it your own way too, the main thing is to just have fun!

What paints to use:

I simply use acrylic paint!

How thick or thin to make the paint:

The ResinCrete is quite absorbent, so you can get some really nice watercolour style effects by using thin paint and layering it up.

You can also work the paint on in thicker layers of paint, though you might need to add multiple layers to eliminate brushstrokes, as the first layers will be absorbed.

What to do if you make a mistake:

If you make a mistake you can always add a few layers of heavy white paint to cover it up. Once this is dry you can just go over it, although bear in mind you won't get the same texture on the painted surface as the bare ResinCrete surface.

How to seal your sculpture afterwards:

You can leave your sculpture unsealed, but using a sealer adds an extra layer of protection to your sculpture.

There are multiple options available. I use a spray lacquer for a gloss shine, waterproofing and UV and scratch resistance. You could also use a wax sealer or a liquid based clay sealer.

Please bear in mind that most sealers work best on a painted surface as opposed to directly on the Resin Crete, so white areas should be painted white before sealing.

Please be aware that many sealers are not to be used with heat, so please use caution and follow the instructions provided when using candles.

Each piece is carefully bubble wrapped and secured in a suitably sized box. We use recyclable and biodegradable packaging for all our products, including waterproof biodegradable cellulose wrap, recycled greyboard, recyclable cardboard boxes and envelopes.

Our lead times are as follows:

• 1-3 working days for non-personalised products.
• 2-4 working days for personalised products.
• Lead times for commissions average 2-4 weeks subject to availability and will be confirmed upon ordering.

For commissions, digital products will only be delivered via studio@stoutcrafted.com or WeTransfer.

We pride ourselves on creating high quality products and ensure each item is sufficiently packaged to minimise the chance of a product arriving damaged. In the event that a product arrives to you damaged, please refer to our Refund Policy for details on our returns process.

Due to the time-intensive nature of personalised products and commissions, we do not accept refunds and returns on these items. However, if a personalised or commissioned product arrives damaged, then we will look to replace the damaged item.
