People and Pets Illustration Commission

Each illustrated commission is a bespoke unique one-off illustration created by Becky in her award-winning digital ink & watercolour style and is more than just a copy of a photograph.

Whether your commission is for a person, pet or a mix of the two, Becky aims to capture each subject in a whimsical illustration full of charm and character.

To do this, we take your idea or brief, reference photos and other provided information to create a fun composition that captures your idea. For example, a lazy cat on a pile of books or a person riding a dragon. These can be created from several reference photographs.

Subjects and Background

These commissions are for either one person or animal, or a mix of both, up to 5 subjects. To add more subjects to your illustrated person or pet portraits, please contact us for a quote.

Each illustration includes a simple background of sky and foreground. For a more detailed background, please get in touch for a bespoke quote.

What We Need From You

To bring your illustrated portrait idea to life, we need the following information from you:

• Your idea or brief for the illustration,
• Reference photos of each subject,
• Description of each subject’s characteristics,
• Anything specific you want Becky to focus on (e.g. Subject 1 is cheeky and you’d like that to show in their expression).

What You Receive

For each commission we provide a digital high resolution file for you to print at your convenience. Due to the way Becky creates each illustration, you will be able to print your commission portrait at any size up to 16x20in without losing any quality.

You can also choose to have your illustrated commission printed at our home studio as an 8x10in print (on Marrutt 316gsm fine art paper). UK shipping is free for prints.

For international orders, we recommend the digital file only option due to the higher international postage costs. However, if you would prefer to order a print, please get in touch so we can provide a delivery cost.

Our Process

1. Upon ordering the commission, we contact you via email to discuss your portrait and get reference photos for the illustration (please make sure you provide us with the correct email address at the time of ordering).
2. An initial composition sketch is created and sent to you for confirmation.
3. The ink and watercolour illustration is created digitally.
4. Once completed, it is sent to you for final confirmation.
5. When the illustration has been finalised, a high resolution image is transferred to you and any other printed products you have ordered are then produced and shipped.

Timescales

Our illustrated commission turnaround is typically 2-4 weeks, depending on the number of subjects, any additional elements requested (e.g. detailed background), Becky’s availability and the other projects we have ongoing in the studio.

We will confirm the timescale for your commission during our initial communication regarding the composition sketch.

Changes

If minor changes are required (such as a colour change or slight sketch alteration) these can be made at the relevant part of the process at no additional cost up to a certain time allowance at the studio’s discretion.

Large changes (such as full recolouring or redraws) are not included in the price. These can be made at an additional cost and discussed via email.

Please note that commissions are non refundable due to the time intensive nature of the illustration work.

Other Products Available

In addition to the digital file we provide and the option to order a 8x10in print, we can also add your illustration to the following products:

• Additional prints.
• Mugs and coasters.
• Magnets.
• Bookmarks.
• Keyrings.
• Vinyl sticker sheets.

These can be ordered separately and added to your Commission order at the additional quoted prices.

We use recyclable and biodegradable packaging for all our products, including waterproof biodegradable cellulose wrap, recycled greyboard, recyclable cardboard boxes and envelopes.

Our lead times are as follows:

• 1-3 working days for non-personalised products.
• 2-4 working days for personalised products.
• Lead times for commissions average 2-4 weeks subject to availability and will be confirmed upon ordering.

We ship all physical products via Royal Mail or Parcel Force. Please refer to our Shipping Policy for more information.

For commissions, digital products will only be delivered via studio@stoutcrafted.com or WeTransfer.

We pride ourselves on creating high quality products and ensure each item is sufficiently packaged to minimise the chance of a product arriving damaged. In the event that a product arrives to you damaged, please refer to our Refund Policy for details on our returns process.

Due to the time-intensive nature of personalised products and commissions, we do not accept refunds and returns on these items. However, if a personalised or commissioned product arrives damaged, then we will look to replace the damaged item.
